Skills Agenda


These skills will be tested and graded on the 3rd nine week report card.


I can recognize and name all uppercase letters.  (A – Z)

I can recognize and name all lower case letters.  (a – z)

I understand how books are organized.

I can recognize and give the sound for letters: Mm, Aa, Ss, Pp, Tt, Ii, Nn, Cc, Oo, Dd, Hh, Ee, Ff, Rr, Bb, Ll, Kk, Uu, Gg, Ww, Xx, Vv, Jj, Qq, Yy, Zz

I can read common High Frequency Words: I, can, the, we, see, a like, to, and, go, you, do, my, are, he, with, is, little, she, was, for, have, of, they, said, want

I can recognize and produce rhyming words.

I can blend and segment syllables in words.

I can blend and segment sounds in words. (beginning sound, middle sound, ending sound)

I can change sounds to make new words. (Change beginning sound to make a new word – word family words)

I can read and understand a grade-level appropriate book.

I can apply listening comprehension skills in fiction texts to answer questions. (Identify characters, setting, beginning-middle-ending of the story)

I can apply listening comprehension skills in informational texts to answer questions.  (Identify teaching topic, tell what was learned, ask a question about book)

I can write, using age-appropriate skills, to narrate an event, inform, and give my opinion. (Use beginning sounds and word labels to write about my picture.)

I am an active participant in conversation.

I use words and phrases learned through conversations, reading, and being read to.


I can count objects by matching a number to the ten objects.  (Objects will appear in a line, on a ten-frame, or in a scattered arrangement.)

I can count, in order, by ones to 75.

I can write numbers 0-15.

I can count a number of objects and write the correct numeral (0-15) to represent the answer.

I can tell you the position of an object by using words like above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to.

I can name 2-D shapes. (rectangle, square, circle, triangle, and hexagon)

I can use simple shapes to create larger ones.

I can count by tens to 100.

I can use measurement vocabulary appropriately. (Describe as shorter, longer, tallest, heaviest, and lightest)

I can correctly compare sets of objects up to ten. (Identify which group has more, fewer/less, or is equal/same)

I can count on from a given number.  (Count up to 5 successive numbers from a given number 0-30)

I can correctly compare two numbers between 0 and 10. (Identify which number is greater/less or understand that the numbers are equal)

I can name 3-D shapes. (cube, cone, cylinder, sphere)

I can use descriptive words to describe 2-D and 3-D shapes.

I can correctly identify shapes as 2-D (flat) or 3-D (solid).

I can model shapes in the world by building shapes from components and drawing shapes.
